Walk With Me

Allow me to walk with you today

and share your moments of peace;

Let me walk along with you,

and we will talk with trees.

Beauty has spellbound living things

from the tawny pine to the bird.

The murmuring hush of forest leaves

has cancelled the need for words.

The air is thick with scents so wild

and sounds are laced with magic.

Something bids my hand to yours:

to deny it would be tragic.

Allow me to walk with you today

and share your moments of peace;

Let me walk along with you,

for you’re my missing piece.

Gone is the season of our reign

Now I put on a friendly face

Thinking things that I can’t say

Overlooking yesterdays

When our eyes meet, it’s instant flame

As if things are just the same

Your loss could be someone’s gain,

But the thought of that puts me in pain.

I wish that I felt bitterness

Like a wall within my chest

It’s such a shame things went that way

And now you wish that you had stayed.

I know you feel the same as me,

Now silence is our tragedy.

No matter what I say or do,

You should know I still love you.

Stagnant

Don’t know where my head’s been at

Or anything I feel

Don’t know if I’m imagining things

Don’t know what’s even real

Have I always been like this?

Is life just unfulfilling?

Or was it when you walked away

That things just started spinning?

I don’t know how to do the things

I used to do for fun.

All I do is sit alone,

Waiting to be done.

you are the human equivalent of
an oversized sweater,
a Sunday morning,
my grandmother’s cooking.
you are comfort.
you are warmth.
you are home.
in human form.
