With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s time for you to get your freak on! Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love and affection, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be with a romantic partner. Whether you’re in a relationship or single, there are plenty of fun and creative ways to mark the occasion. Here are some ideas for couples and single people alike to make the most of this Valentine’s Day. 1. Have a romantic dinner: There’s no such thing as clichés, only pretentious lonely people. Enjoy a candlelit dinner with your significant other at one of Edmonton’s many fine Italian restaurants or save some money and make it together at home! Set the mood and create memories that you both will never forget this fourteenth. 2. Go on a date: You can take a trip with your significant other, even with last-minute reservations. Art galleries, museums, weekend camping trips, late-night romantic walks through River Valley, and so much more! Now’s the perfect time for you two to try something new and exciting together, like an escape room or a cooking class. 3. Write love letters: Take the time to sit down and write a heartfelt love letter to your significant other. As cheesy as it sounds, this personal touch can be a meaningful and lasting reminder of your love. For single people:

1. Treat yourself: Did you know you can do all the above by yourself? Because you can and should if you want to; never let the fact that you’re alone stop you from doing what your heart desires. 2. Spend time with your other single friends: You can’t be alone forever if you’re not alone with other lonely people! Yes, that’s factually correct. Dinner, a movie night, pool, a shopping—there are many options for hanging out with your closest friends. Make it a night to remember and celebrate your special friendship! 3.Volunteer: There’s more to life than romantic love. Why not spend your Valentine’s Day gives your time and effort to those in need. There are many volunteering opportunities all year round that needs friendly faces to help better the community.

4. Go speed dating: If all else fails, go meet other single people and try your luck! With only one cursory Google search, I found three speed-dating events around the city on the 13th. You can find them, too, if you just put in the effort. I believe in you!
