Who can write for The Bolt?

The Bolt News is the CSA Students’ newsletter, therefore we can only pay students who are currently enrolled at Concordia University of Edmonton, or someone who has recently graduated.

How long does my article need to be?

Your article must have between 450 to 500 words. After approval and editing, you will be paid per word.

What can I write about?

You can write about almost everything. While we want our students to express themselves, as part of the CSA we will not publish articles that are derogatory, biased, racist, defamatory, politically motivated and/or anything we believe may be received poorly. When in doubt, send our Editor-in-Chief an email about your topic before writing so you can get approval and avoid any possible problems.

What is the process?

Our Editor-in-Chief will send out an email to our writers announcing the theme. Once completed, our writers send their articles to us, after which they go through an editing process by our Story Editor. Once that is finished, the Layout Editor takes all the articles and inputs them onto the issue for printing! Once the issue is ready and has been approved, we print!

Don’t forget to add your name and a title for your article!

It mat seem silly, but people tend to forget those! After you’re done your article, be sure to send it to bolt.editorinchief@student.concordia.ab.ca and we will make sure to get back to you within 48h.

Still not sure how it works?

No problem! Send us an email at bolt.editorinchief@student.concordia.ab.ca and we’ll be happy to clarify any questions!
