Falling For Fall

We are officially in September and we all know what that  means; leaves of all beautiful colours are soon to grace the trees and then flutter to the ground as the weather gets ever colder. Fall is a season that people either love or don’t - understandable considering it marks the transition into the cold winter months - but I assure you that there are so many wonderful things to love about fall. Some might say that it’s sad the sun will start to set so early, but soon we will be able to see a sky full of stars without having to stay up all night. Those stars are twinkling reminders of the silver linings of the season.

Top of the list of those silver linings is food. I don’t think there is another season that comes with a cozier menu. We, of course, have the classic fall flavour: pumpkin spice. Perhaps its most popular form comes in coffee but for those of you like me who are not coffee fans, there are many other options. Grab a group of friends and head to the local grocery store; make a fun activity out of it and see how many pumpkin spice flavoured things you can find to try. There are several other hot drink options for you to join in on the pumpkin spice madness, such as pumpkin spice hot chocolate - just as sweet and warming to the soul minus the bitterness of coffee.

There are so many other delights that come along with this chilly but cozy season; Thanksgiving, fuzzy sweaters, photoshoots with friends, pumpkin patches, and jumping in massive piles of leaves. Personally, one of my favourite ways to embrace all the joys of the season is to create a bucket list. Grab a friend, some fun pens, and a piece of paper and get to work on brainstorming all the things you want to do this fall. If you’re anything like me then you may struggle to stop your studies and stresses from doing the things that bring us joy. It is important to take time for yourself, for fun, and to find ways to enjoy yourself. Organize a Friendsgiving, carve pumpkins, try new recipes, attend a fall festival, or find a Halloween party.

Consider the gauntlet thrown. Embrace this challenge, go out and do the fun things that you plan, see how much of your list you can complete. Wishing everyone here at Concordia a very happy fall season and good luck to everyone on the start of this new school year!
